SHRINE CIRCUS

Tonight we went to the Shrine Circus. My good friend Darla hooked us up with free tickets, thanks Darla!!

We saw my coworker Harold there, he's a Shriner and he was dressed as Tigger, welcoming the kids to the circus as they entered. Both girls immediately gave him a hug when I told them who was in the costume.

It was a three ring circus, and much better than Ringling Brothers. We saw tigers, elephants, dogs, acrobats, and clowns.

Both Alex and Lauren intently watched every minute of the show.

Derek bought them each a light sabre as it seemed every child there had one. It will surely provide hours of entertainment in the future.

The girls were sufficiently tired and worn out when we left. They even fell asleep in the car on the ride home, which is a rarity...it was great!

ENROLLMENT DAY

Today I stood in line to enroll Alex in kindergarten. I was the first one there - an hour and a half early, however, I waited to get out of my car until others got there. So I was 4th in line. 3rd to request Maize Central. Just as we were let into the building it started raining. Fortunately for me, I was in and out in less than 5 minutes. Others had to wait for hours. The line was around the building. I will find out soon if we get our 1st choice.

Now I am going back to bed.

KINDERGARTEN CONNECTION

We are part of a kindergarten orientation program called Kindergarten Connection. Maize is one of the few districts that have this. Each month the kids are dropped off and introduced to different parts of the school. For example, one session is focused on PE/gym and music, one session is to meet the nurse and counselors, one session is to ride a bus, and there are tours of the school.

This program gives the children a chance to meet some new friends, as well as get familiar with the schools and teachers, and get used to being dropped off at school in order to reduce their anxiety. Alex has had a wonderful time in the program and both of us have made new friends as a result.

Today, Derek and I were Parent Volunteers. We were part of a tour of Maize Central, where I want to enroll the girls. We volunteered so we could see the school as well as Alex, since enrollment is a week away.

Needless to say, I was very impressed. Impressed with the teachers, the facilities, the technology. I can't wait for them to start school there. Here are some photos I took of the activities that went on at the school:

COLORING EASTER EGGS

The girls colored Easter eggs today. Of course we never had time to decorate them with Kindergarten Connection, Eaglets, Soccer practice and games, and birthday parties going on. So, the last photo is the finished product. Lauren was hamming it up for me today.
